Technical Lead – Database – USA

The Technical Lead – Database would provide expertise, mentoring, and leadership in the areas of database installations in AWS, upgrades, patches, tuning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, database deployments, container management, support and documentation of standards, environments, and procedures for the administration of all supported environments.

• You will be responsible for leading technical assignments within the team
• Responsible for reporting and managing deliverables within the team
• Define monitoring requirements for cloud databases and lead efforts for continual improvements & proactive monitoring
• Automate or improve SOP and maintenance tasks.
• Act as a technical SME during escalated P1/P2 issues
• Participate in database deployments and approved changes into the environment
• Independently perform DB installation, cloning & migration
• Troubleshoot, track and resolve complex database issues, identify recurring problems and apply fixes
• Track and resolve database related requests from users, and escalate as necessary
• Apply regular and proactive database patches and updates
• Perform proactive space & growth management for databases
• Responsible for designing sound backup and recovery policies and procedure

• Certifications
  • Relevant AWS certifications are preferred
  • Relevant Database certifications are preferred

• 8+ years related work experience in managing and administering Oracle, MySQL, Postgres databases
• 3+ years experience implementing and administering cloud solutions on AWS platforms
• 2+ years experience implementing and administering AWS RDS
• Thorough understanding of architectural elements required to support large AWS cloud installations and maintain high availability
• Proficient in writing and maintaining scripts to automate system tasks
• Must be able to write effective technical documents and reports as a primary focus of daily duties
• Experience supporting all phases of the system development life cycle including development, testing, QA, and production.

Preferred knowledge and experience

• Experience with Cloud Formation, Python, Ansible
• Experience with Splunk
• Knowledge of government-sponsored health care programs and systems
